Where lay our roots?

Peter Zwinkels Orchideeën originates from a generation of growers living in "The Westland" who have made this area worldwide well-known as "the Garden of Europe". Initially Leo Zwinkels, the father of the present owner Peter, cultivated a large variety of vegetables. Besides the cultivation of tomatoes he started about 1976 the cultivation of cymbidium. A few years later Leo’s four sons joined the company and the business increased from one site of 22.000 m² to four sites with a joint area of 66.000 m². The cymbidium have been moved from the parental site to the present site of Peter Zwinkels Orchideeën situated on the Oudecampsweg in De Lier. On the three other sites tomatoes and peppers were cultivated. In 1996 Leo – having reached retirement age – left the company and his sons decided to continue independently. Peter Zwinkels continued the cultivation of cymbidium under the name of

What are we doing at present?

In the years Peter Zwinkels Orchideeën has been working independently the company has, besides rebuildings and modernization of the production equipment, specialized in a high-quality product on an area of 16.000 m².

Having produced mixed boxes with top quality flowers for many years, we have switched in 2006 to delivering our flowers per variety. We hope that with this we can still better respond to the market demand and improve the colours, vase-life and quality even further for you.

What are we aiming at?

Our goals for the coming years are: offering larger quantities per variety and on modest scale product upgrading as a result of which we hopefully can offer you some exclusive varieties. Of course we will continue doing our utmost to produce a high-quality product and offer you an innovative assortment.
